Vanished Into Thin Air

The second story in the series.

Chapter one: Vanished

The deep colors were the only thing she saw. She stared at the black, old television that her parents had bought. A tear escaped from her eye and slid down her fragile face. She fell to her knees so hard that they became numb. Her heart felt like it was going to a jolt out of her chest. She cried for everything, the world, her family, the children. Suddenly the news caster announced that every child under the age of 10 had disappeared in all of the mess too. What was going on?! Why was this catastrophic thing happening?!

She walked over to her dresser and took out a pair of plaid blue jeans. She also took out the tank top her mom had bought her. It was baby blue, and had no design on it. She sauntered over to her mom and dads big, clean, neat bedroom. She walked in knowing that in the very bed that was in there had been where her parents had disappeared. A chill ran through her body as she picked up her moms notebook that was crammed with tons of notes. Right under it was her moms Holy Bible. She gently picked it up, it was her moms prized possession. She strolled into the family room and plopped herself onto the couch. She gently opened her moms Bible. She went to the first book called, Genesis. She read the first verse word for word out loud to herself, In the beginning. Well, it was too late for the beginning, it was the end, the end of life as she had once known. It was the end of her entire life. It felt as if the world was caving in and it was caving in on her.
Why?!!!!!!! She yelled looking up in the direction of heaven. Why, God did you take my family? her knees gave way and she fell to the ground with a great thump. She let out a cry, and started sobbing staining the floor with her tears. She got up quickly to her wobbling feet.
~~~~5 Minuets later~~~
She quickly started making her way to the church. It was the only hope she had left. She had to find some answers. She had to find someone at the church still around.
Chapter two: the church
While she was walking or more like sprinting down the sidewalk. She had to get to the church. She just had to! What was she going to do? She could swear that she heard her heart going; thump, thump She just knew her heart was doing that. All she wanted to do was scream, Help! This could not be possibly true. It was so unreal. All she wanted was her family back. How could she face life without her family?! She just had to find someone who knew, and who cared for her.
The streets were as quiet as could be. No sound was made, not even by the unsettling wind. It was too quiet. She walked down the busiest part of town, and there was no sound, only her clattering footsteps that would go, clop, clop. She was so scared, about what was going to happen.
This was too much for her little body to handle. Her whole, and she meant WHOLE world was caving in on her. She hated this. Hated, Hated, Hated, hated this world, as it was at the time.
She finally made it too the lonely street leading to the church. She glanced down the street, saw a car, a car. Her heart leapt forward, and started to try to jump out of her skinny chest. Her heart jumped up and down, when she got closer to the church. Suddenly an unnerving feeling came over her. She didnt feel too good. She felt like she was going to throw up. Come on, Ericka, you are almost there? She told herself. She just had to find someone. Who knew something at least.
When she finally reached the church steps, she looked up at the steeple. There stood a cross, a high and lifted cross. All of a sudden all her fears, all her concerns, went away, and she felt unbelievably peaceful. Was it God making her at peace? Was it God who took her family away? This had been the first time that she had thought about the possibilities, that her mom and dad were right.
She didnt want her mom and dad to be right because, and then she would have to admit it, that she was wrong and her parents were right. She was defiantly didnt want to admit it.
She walked into the church to find a peaceful place. Crosses were everywhere she walked over to the church office, and walked in to find a old woman slumped at her desk crying. You could also hear something going on in the other room.
Hello she said to the old women. She looked at the womans expression she leaped up, obviously startled. Im sorry, to startle you she said quickly to the old woman.
Well its okay, child the woman said to her.
Are you the only one from the church left? She asked the woman quickly.
No, Im not the only one left the old woman said as she started to eye her. She felt like the entire world was watching her, and all her mistakes. This was awful just awful. Why was this happening?
She sauntered into the meeting room where the woman had told her, that there was a meeting that she should sit through. When she entered the room, she gasped.
